Fee & Payment Policy

Payment Policy

Our reception staff will be happy to advise you of the consult fees.  Fees for consult along with other necessary forms will also be sent to you when an appointment has been made.

An out-of pocket co-payment may be incurred for surgery depending on your private health insurance cover although for the vast majority of patients there is no gap. An Informed Financial Consent is issued at the time of booking your surgery and this can be taken to your Health Fund to confirm any out of pocket expense.

Surgical fees are billed directly to the Health Insurance Providers and any out of pocket gap amounts are forwarded to you after we have received payment from your Health Fund.

How to Pay

Payment on the day of consultation is required. For your convenience we accept a number of payment methods in the rooms, by post and online.
These payment methods include:
  • Credit Card: VISA, Mastercard
  • Cheque or Cash
  • Electronic - EFTPOS
  • Private Billing

Dr Simon Smith's practice is a private service provider and payment is required on the day.

Reception will send your paid account directly to Medicare and Medicare will deposit your rebate directly into your bank account, usually on the same day.

  • Quotations

An Informed Financial Consent is given to you at the time of booking your operation. You can then take this to your Health Fund to confirm if you will have any out of pocket gap payments.

  • Self Insured Patients

Patients without private health insurance can choose private admission. These ‘self-funded’ patients assume all costs of the operation.

  • What will my Health Fund cover?

Health Funds do not cover your consult fee with Mr Simon Smith.

Your Health Fund will usually cover your entire operation fee (there is a small gap for some Health Funds).  You will be issued with an Informed Financial Consent at the time of booking your operation.

We recommend you take this quote to check your level of cover with your private health fund to know exactly what gap you may be expected to pay.
